INTENT

POST [industry/industria] reconsiders the under-realized potential of the post-industrial North American city. Through the shared value of their historic industrial infrastructures and cultural landscapes, the cities of Pittsburgh and Monterrey act as a laboratory for an international design investigation in landscape urbanism.

This research-intensive collaborative studio addresses design opportunities specific to improving urban life in Pittsburgh and Monterrey. The often overlooked common legacy of the steel industry and its aftermath continues to shape the identities of both Pittsburgh and Monterrey. The shared opportunity of post-industrial landscapes presents a unique platform to identify, analyze, and exploit the potential of urban brownfields as cultural amenities.

This studio will propose small-scale interventions into the urban fabric, as well as large-scale metropolitan gestures.
